Sneak Previews with Michael Berlin (Section 1)

Remember how much fun movies and dinner were on Monday nights. You can do it again! Come early and enjoy dinner on your own n one of the wonderful eateries and restaurants near the theater. Be among the first to preview feature films from major Hollywood studies and independent film companies. Previous Oscar nominated films have included "Hotel Rwanda," "Kinsey," "In America," "Les Choristes" and "The Lives of Others," to name a few. Hear even more behind the scenes buzz from Michael Berlin and his fascinating interviews with people either directly involved with the film of the evening or someone working in a facet of the film industry. As always, the identity of each film and guest is a closely guarded secret. It's part of the fun! Attendees must be 18 years of age or older. Co-sponsored by the University Center, Newport Beach Film Festival, Orange County Jewish Film Festival sponsored by the University Synagogue, and The Irvine Company. Michael Berlin, Ph.D., associate professor of Screenwriting, Cal State Long Beach, screenwriter and producer, currently works for ABC and Wide World Disney. He has written and produced over 150 episodes of dramatic TV scripts ranging from award winning "Cagney and Lacy," "Miami Vice," "Quantum Leap," "The Commish," "Murder She Wrote," and "Sisters" to Steven Spielberg's "Earth 2" and Gene Rodenbury's "Earth: Final Conflict." Feature film credits include "Breaking Point," "Gaudi," "Robo Warriors," and "Anguish," the winner of 10 European awards including Best Picture at the Sitges Film Festival, Spain. A Ph.D. psychologist, he is a former associate professor of Psychology and Film and dean of Academic Affairs at the College of Developmental Studies in Los Angeles. He has been the host of Orange County's University Synagogue Jewish Film Festival for 10 years, and is currently Adjunct Film Curator at the Bower's Museum of Cultural Art.
